G&H Film and Television Services
Issue Date: 01/11/2025
At G&H Film and Television Services, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact in the film and television production industry by implementing sustainable practices across our transport services.
Our approach includes adopting low-carbon fuels, reducing energy consumption, and prioritising alternative fuel vehicles. Our dedication to sustainability aligns with the broader industry’s push for carbon-neutral production practices.
Our sustainability objectives focus on the following:
3. Sustainable Fuel & Alternative Energy Practices
Our diesel fleet operates on HVO fuel, a renewable alternative that reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 85%. Additionally, we use HVO in all our generators. We source fuel from approved suppliers — Nichol Oil & W.R Kennedy Fuels — to ensure consistent quality and availability.
A strict no-idling policy is enforced across all sites to minimise unnecessary emissions. Drivers are trained to turn off engines during wait times, and shaded or sheltered waiting areas are requested across sites to make it comfortable for our drivers to wait outside vehicles.
We are actively expanding our fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles. Whenever possible, we source alternative fuel vehicles, with a target of transitioning 50% of vehicles to EVs or hybrids within the next three years.
We use portable battery storage units (BSUs), which can reduce fuel consumption by up to 75%. We are researching and actively looking to invest in solar-powered trailers to reduce generator reliance.
Where feasible, our base camps tie into the electric grid, reducing the need for fuel generators. This shift not only minimises emissions but also provides a more stable (renewable) energy source.
We use Stage V generators or those equipped with catalysed particulate filters to reduce air pollutants. They are powered down when not in use, and trailers are completely powered off after wrap.
Responsible refuelling practices are followed, with refuelling conducted in bunded or contained areas using drip trays or ground sheets to prevent spills.
We use trailers optimised for energy efficiency, built from sustainable materials. Whenever possible, trailers are combined or downsized to fit actual production needs.
Air heating and cooling systems are turned off in unoccupied trailers, and we prioritise trailers that meet strict energy efficiency standards.
All vehicles and equipment use re-refined motor oil and undergo routine maintenance. Proper disposal methods are observed for all waste products to prevent environmental contamination.
To minimise vehicle trips, we offer shuttle bus services to condense travel requirements, making it easier for crew to use public transport. We also coordinate with other departments to reduce truck trips to and from the site.
Our team supports waste reduction efforts on set by adhering to recycling practices set out by the production sustainability department.
We use eco-friendly cleaning products in trailers to maintain a healthy environment with minimal environmental impact.
Company-wide, we follow green practices such as reducing paper usage, refilling water bottles, and powering down equipment when not in use. Recycling and reusing materials are integral to our operations.
This policy will be reviewed annually to monitor progress and incorporate new sustainable technologies.
Our commitment to environmental responsibility will continue to evolve with industry practices, and we pledge to take every opportunity to improve.
At G&H Film and Television Services, we are committed to serving our clients and welcome new sustainable practices and initiatives.
At G&H Film and Television Services, our dedication to sustainability extends to every aspect of our services. Through continuous improvement and proactive engagement with eco-friendly practices, we are contributing to a greener, more responsible film and television production environment.
